Weekend-long event commemorating the raising of the first flag for independence
over Taunton Green in 1774, two years before the passage of the Declaration of Independence.
Saturday’s events include living history encampments and colonial-ere displays from 10am to 4pm
Sunday the community gathers for a 10am service and flag raising at the City Hall. A wreath laying at the Plain Cemetery and a re-dedication of the Vietnam Memorial Fountain will conclude the day. There will be living history displays with colonial and civil war encampments. The DAR will also be in attendance.

Concerts at the Point was founded in 1997 to enrich the cultural environment for
residents of southeastern New England by presenting chamber music concerts performed
by distinguished musicians and exceptional young vocal artists. The concerts are held in the
Westport Point United Methodist Church, a small venue with superb acoustics.

Taunton Park & Recreation’s
3rd annual Halloween Costume Parade
It will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Hopewell Park-Ron Arieta Football Field Complex.
All Taunton children age 12 and under are welcome. . There will be prizes for best costumes,
plus a presentation by Tony Fonseca, “All Hands Drumming.”
Admission is $3 per child and includes a goodie bag, hot chocolate and other treats.
