The New Bedford Ballet is hosting its annual spring fundraiser featuring an array of elegant desserts & refreshments, live music provided by members of the New Bedford Symphony Youth Orchestra and performances of an adaption of The Firebird by the New Bedford Youth Ballet. The Firebird, based on Russian folktales and mythological Phoenix, was originally performed in 1910 as part of Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes, with music by Igor Stravinsky. Rebecca Waskiel-Marchesseault, artistic director of NBB, has modified the original story to increase its educational value and family appeal, while still maintaining its original symbolism and energy.

Annual James Arnold Garden Symposium Lecture Program
“Feast for the Eyes”
Spring brings the New England gardener a glorious display of bloom as trees, shrubs and woodland wildflowers compete for attention. At the same moment the vegetable gardener is racing to plant peas, harvest early greens and prepare for a bountiful year of fresh from the garden produce. This symposium shows how to have the best of both worlds–the beauty of spring blooms and the delights of savoring the earliest harvest from the vegetable garden. You will learn not only which flowering trees and shrubs will thrive in your garden, and the best tips and methods for growing your most successful vegetable garden yet, but also how to maximize the space in your garden with design inspiration for gardening from the ground up.
Proceeds from the Symposium underwrite the cost of student educational programming that is offered free of charge to more than 2,000 students annually.
