Mothers Day Flower Workshop for Children
Location: RJD House, 396 County Street, New Bedford
Description: Under the guidance of Kitsie Howard, child educator and expert flower arranger, children will create a “container garden” or living plant arrangement. Rather than cut flowers that only last a short time, these arrangements will continue to grow and provide blooms to delight mom all season. The Museum will provide everything needed to create a beautiful container garden including the plant material, pots, soil and the guidance and inspiration! Children will also design a card to accompany their arrangement. The cost, per arrangement with accompanying card, is $7. The Rotch-Jones-Duff House and Garden Museum is one of the nation’s finest whaling Greek revival mansions. Built in 1834, its period rooms chronicle 150 years of the history of New Bedford, as reflected in the lives of the families who lived and worked there. The Museum is open to the public for tours 10 am to 4 pm Monday through Saturday and 12 noon to 4 pm on Sunday. Ongoing educational and cultural programs are also offered. For more information, visit online.

J. Holiday & Special Guest

Location: Zeiterion Theatre, 684 Purchase Street, New Bedford
Description: When J. Holiday talks earnestly of “following my dreams” and “being in love with music,” it’s not a deliberately sympathetic portrayal by a partial writer. In fact, J.’s talent is matched -in rarity and intensity—only by his enthusiasm. His candor and vulnerability are refreshing, given the static, formulaic state of R&B. For tickets please call box office.
