Wednesday, July 4th
American History Costume Parade & Fort Phoenix Cannon Salute

Location: Green St. from Cushman Park to Fort Phoenix Fairhaven

Description: Begins 9:30 a.m. Children and adults dressed as their favorite characters from American History parade to our Revolutionary War fort.  Anyone in costume is invited to march. (Lineup is on Green Street side of Cushman Park, 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.) Parade also includes selected antique and classic vehicles, restored military vehicles, and more.  Cannon Firing, Fort Phoenix, approximately 10:30 am.  Following parade, there will be a brief talk on the history of the fort, an excerpt form the Declaration of Independence, and the flag raising.  The Fort’s five Seacoast cannons will then be fired over the harbor.  Sponsored by the Office of Tourism with the Fairhaven Village Militia.

CAPE VERDEAN RECOGNITION PARADE

Location: Buttonwood Park to Verdean Vets Hall, Purchase Street, New Bedford

Description: One of the largest parades in New Bedford, 7 divisions, marching bands, Veterans units and 50+ organizations from Southeastern Massachusetts.
